  • Recently, the international authoritative industry medium "POWER" announced its appraisal results of the Plant of the Year in 2023. The CGNEI’s EMPP stood out among power plants in the world and was awarded the "Plant of the Year in 2023 (Gas-fired)”.

As the most influential energy industry magazine in the world, POWER was founded in 1882, and its annual appraisal of the plant of the year has attracted much attention, which is regarded by the industry as one of the authoritative awards for measuring power plant operation and maintenance management, environmental protection and power generation efficiency.

The EMPP, located in Malacca, Malaysia, was fully completed and put into operation on February 28, 2022, with a total installed capacity of 2,242MW and a power generation efficiency of 61.78%, which is the largest and most efficient gas-steam combined-cycle power plant in Southeast Asia. Since its operation, it has accumulatively generated more than 23,000GWh electricity, with an availability rate exceeding 98%, and all indicators being better than the industry level. The annual power generation capacity of the power plant is about 19,600GWh, which can meet about 10% of the total power demand in Malay Peninsula, equivalent to the power consumption of 4 million Malaysian households every year.
