  • From October 23 to 24, the 3rd Belt &Road Energy Ministerial Conference, jointly hosted by the National Energy Administration of China and the People’s Government of Shandong Province, was held in Qingdao, Shandong. Zhang Chaoqun, Director and President of CGNEI, was invited to attend the meeting and delivered a keynote speech at the South-South Cooperation for Renewable Energy Development Forum.

In his speech titled “Promoting New Channels, New Spaces, and New Developments in South-South Cooperation,” Zhang first provided an overview of China General Nuclear Power Group’s (CGN) business activities overseas, with a focus on its energy operations in developing countries. He emphasized that South-South cooperation is a remarkable initiative for the uniting and self-strengthening of developing nations. CGN actively responds to the call for high-quality joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative, prioritizing services for developing partner countries. Currently, CGN's installed capacity in South-South cooperation countries has reached 9.2 million kilowatts, and efforts are being intensified to develop projects in Southeast Asia, South America, and Africa.

Zhang Chaoqun proposed three initiatives to bolster South-South cooperation: 1. Enhance coordinated efforts and uphold win-win cooperation, jointly expanding new channels for South-South cooperation in the energy sector. 2. Strengthen vertical synergy among Chinese enterprises, and explore new spaces for international energy collaboration. Thirdly, actively explore industrial technological innovation to achieve new developments in overseas clean energy projects.
