CGN Brazil's LDB Wind-Solar Hybrid Project Signs Grid Connection Agreement
Recently, CGN Brazil's LDB Wind-Solar Hybrid Project signed a grid connection agreement with the Brazilian power grid operator, marking the official approval for grid access and representing a crucial step toward the project's construction.
The LDB Wind-Solar Hybrid Project is one of the first of its kind developed by CGN Energy International in Brazil and the first greenfield project fully developed independently by CGN Brazil. In recent years, CGN Brazil has been actively exploring new project development models, advancing multiple wind-solar hybrid projects in parallel. By maximizing the grid capacity and facilities of operational renewable energy projects, the company enhances operational synergies, improving the flexibility and economic efficiency of its entire power portfolio.
Located in Piauí State in northeastern Brazil, the LDB project is expected to commence construction in mid-2025 and begin operations in 2026. Once completed, the total installed capacity of the LDB complex will reach 340 MW. In November last year, the project signed a corporate power purchase agreement (CPPA) with São Paulo Metro, a state-owned enterprise of São Paulo. The signing was commended by São Paulo Governor Tarcísio de Freitas, who stated that the LDB Wind-Solar Hybrid Project is an innovative demonstration of deep energy cooperation between China and Brazil and expressed hope for more such projects in the future.
Since the beginning of 2025, CGN Brazil has made significant progress in new project development. Drawing on the experience of the LDB project, the company has initiated final feasibility studies for the TN Wind-Solar Hybrid Project and the Morrinhos Wind-Solar Hybrid Project in Bahia State, laying a solid foundation for future project implementation.
