On August 12, the First Laos Investment Promotion and Management Conference was held in Vientiane, the capital of Laos. Sonexay Siphandone, Member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and Prime Minister of Laos, attended the conference, while Saleumxay Kommasith, Deputy Prime Minister of Laos and Chairman of the National Investment Management Committee, presided over the event.

CGN was invited to participate as a representative of foreign-invested enterprises and set up an independent exhibition booth to showcase its investment achievements, social responsibility initiatives, and progress on key projects in Laos.

During the conference, Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone, Deputy Prime Minister Saleumxay Kommasith, and other Lao government leaders visited the CGN booth and held detailed discussions with representatives of CGN’s Lao operations. They were briefed on CGN’s investment footprint, project development, local capacity building, and future development plans in Laos.

The Lao leadership spoke highly of CGN’s efforts to develop the clean energy sector in Laos and actively fulfill its local social responsibilities. At the booth, Prime Minister Sonexay expressed appreciation for  “CGN Shimmer Plan” and its community initiatives, recognizing the company’s long-term commitment to local communities, its contribution to improving people’s livelihoods, and its efforts to support local development.

During discussions on industrial development. CGN’s Lao company introduced its integrated agrivoltaic projects, particularly its multi-layered, integrated development model. The model closely aligns with Prime Minister Sonexay’s focus on promoting the localization and integrated development of the photovoltaic industry.

By combining photovoltaic power generation with agricultural cultivation beneath solar panels, the model enables more efficient and intensive use of Laos’ land resources while creating local employment and increasing farmers’ incomes. It also supports the modernization of agriculture and is highly aligned with Laos’ strategies for green transformation and rural development.

CGN’s development in Laos is never about one-way investment or resource output. As a foreign-invested energy company in Laos, CGN leverages its industrial strengths to deepen local partnerships and promote the development of local industrial capabilities. The company actively engages with Lao photovoltaic module manufacturers and continues to increase the proportion of locally sourced equipment, materials, and supporting services. These efforts are helping drive the localization of Laos’ new energy industry and accelerate the transformation of its resource advantages into industrial and economic strengths.

Through these efforts, CGN demonstrates the responsibility of a central state-owned enterprise and puts into practice the principle of “teaching people how to fish” by fostering sustainable local capabilities.

Looking ahead, CGN will continue to serve national strategies, deepen localized operations overseas, steadily advance project development, strengthen collaboration across local industrial chains, and further implement the “CGN Shimmer Plan” and other social responsibility initiatives. Through high-standard, high-quality clean energy projects, CGN will deepen practical cooperation between China and Laos, contribute to Laos’ green and low-carbon development, and help build a China-Laos community with a shared future.
