  • On September 4 (local time), The Snipe, the Mussel and the Fish, a classic children’s drama by the China National Theatre for Children supported by CGN Energy International Holdings Co.,Limited, was staged at the Vila Mariana Theatre in São Paulo, Brazil. The performance drew more than 600 audiences from all walks of life in São Paulo. The stage presentation brimming with oriental charm and vivid, engaging plot won warm applause from the audience. Yu Peng, Chinese Consul General in São Paulo, Cândra, DirectorGeneral of the São Paulo Municipal Department of International Relations, Li Dongcheng, Chief Representative of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Representative Office in Brazil, and Luo Shihao, President of the Brazilian Social Cultural Research Centre, attended the event.

This performance forms part of the 2026 China-Brazil Cultural Year jointly hosted by the two countries. As a major supporter, CGNEI helped bring the drama to Brazil in the form of a large-scale theatre show, advancing the integration of the brand of China’s clean energy enterprises and China-Brazil cultural exchanges.

The performed children’s play The Snipe, the Mussel and the Fish is adapted from the classic Chinese fable The Snipe and the Mussel Struggle, and the Fisherman Profits. It integrates diverse artistic elements including drama, dance, martial arts, painting and music. Relying on performers’ body movements, puppet styling, freehand ink-wash stage aesthetics and traditional Chinese-style music, the play tells its story vividly. In the plot, a snipe and a river mussel refuse to compromise while fighting over a fish, only to be caught by a fisherman amid their conflict. Eventually, the two escape successfully through tacit cooperation, conveying the Eastern cultural connotations of harmonious coexistence and mutual prosperity.

At the event venue, CGN brand elements were seamlessly integrated into the theatre space and culturalexchange scenarios. Large screens in the lobby cycled through CGN brand posters, whose imagery steeped in oriental charm conveyed the brand ethos of “ Nature Energy Powering Nature”. Windturbine models, culturalandcreative merchandise and brand brochures were displayed at the reception booth, drawing crowds of visiting spectators. Prior to the performance, a CGN brand image film was screened on the main theatre screen, illustrating the vision of Chinese cleanenergy enterprises for building a shared green future and communicating the value pursuit of harmonious coexistence between humanity and nature through cultural exchange.

Yu Peng remarked that this is a highly distinctive performance held in São Paulo as part of this year’s ChinaBrazil Cultural Year. Rooted in a traditional Chinese tale, the production enables Brazilian audiences to grasp a wellknown Chinese story through stage movements and artistic expression, while exposing them to the Chinese cultural values of peace, harmony and amity. Cultural exchanges conducted through art, especially those targeting the younger generation, help foster deeper mutual understanding between the peoples of the two countries.

During its Brazil tour, The Snipe, the Mussel and the Fish will be staged in multiple shows in São Paulo and Campinas. Through the art form of children’s theatre, more Brazilian audiences will get an upclose experience of Chinese culture.
